Southern Cross Country Championships Saturday 27th January 2024

On Saturday 27 January a herd of Stags, young and not so young, took on the South of England Cross Country Championships at Beckenham Place Park, in Bromley not by Bow.

The weather was benign, and the course was varied - soft and muddy in places, hard in others, with testing hills.

The terrific trio of U13 Girls Capree, Thea, and Isla were the first to race for the club, and were bunched together for most of their race, finishing well up the field.

Lone star Jorjia ran next in the U15 Girls race, finishing in a magnificent third place after a terrific tussle against the best girls in the South of England.

Solo Harrison had a good run in the U17 Men's race finishing well clear in his personal battle against a perennial Heathside rival.

The dynamic duo of Emma and Charlotte had great performances in their first year in the Junior Women's race, whilst the talented trio of Joe, Callum, and Noah followed suit in the Junior Men.

Sole survivor Ann had a great run in the Senior Women's race, leaving the fantastic four of Philip, Grahame, Chris, and Des to finish off the day for the Stags in the very long Men's race.

Unfortunately, there were not enough Barnet athletes in any of the races to complete teams, but everyone had a great day out.
