Met League Race Three: Wormwood Scrubs

Uphill start? Nobody wants an uphill start.  Keep your hills for the middle of the race. Give me a nice gentle downhill at the start, just to warm up, and a nice flat finish. If you must have hills, then put them in the middle, where they belong. Anyway, Wormwood Scrubs, probably the flattest course of the Met league…. has a slight incline to start.

Our Senior Women (Division 2) continue to perform strongly and finished the day 4th out of 15 teams, whilst our Vet Women (Division 2) finished 5th out of 7 teams.

Jenny Johns had a great summer on the roads and brings that form to the cross-country season, coming home in 92nd place (out of 184 women).

This race also saw Karen Murphy make a very welcome return to the Senior Women A team, telling herself that she will take it easy, still coming home as 2nd lady for the Stags.  Chloe Marshall made her Met League debut and stormed home in 3rd place for Barnet.  Our 3 remaining ladies are our only ever presents in the Met League this season and always deliver for us.

The Senior Men’s team (Division 2) collectively are being outperformed by the women, finishing the day in 9th place out of 14 teams. The Vet Men are in danger of relegation, finishing in 15th out of 15 teams.  However, individuals’ men’s performances are a different story.  Noah Clarke came home in 94th place out of 374 and Top 100 in the Met League is very respectable.  Alex and Nehal were just outside the Top 100 placings.  Dan, Brian, Dave and Chris all ran well but we are 3 men short of a full team (evident in our team standing).
