Met League Race Two: Horsenden Hill

Fortunately, the course did not actually go to the top of Horsenden Hill, so the elevation was only 61m in about 7.6K and despite all the rain on the previous Thursday and Friday the ground was soft but not muddy. The laps were entirely within grass fields so zero tarmac paths or crossings and no rain on the day so, all in all, pretty good cross country conditions and the competing Stags enjoyed the race.

Congratulations to our Senior women’s team who finished 3rd out of 11 Division 2 teams!

As in Race One Emma McCluskey was our first to finish, followed by Martha Hall, Scarlett and Jo Kent, Jenny Johns, Jana Jilkova and Yllka Istrefi - all finishing within a 5-minute window for a great team effort and a lot of Winter Trophy Points.

The men also had a very good day, improving on the first race by finishing 7th out of 14 Division 2 teams.

Noah Clarke was our first man home, holding on to finish 0.38 seconds ahead of Alex Shuker! Charlie White, Carmello Quattrocchi, Will Cooper, Mike Walker, Dan Ward and Chris Violet completed our runners. It was Carmello and Dan’s first Met League races so very well done to both.

Karen Murphy, mindful of ongoing niggles, ran in the non-scoring 4K - getting good race kilometres in the bag.
