Middlesex Cross Country Championships - Horsenden Hill - Saturday 6 January 2024

Two dozen Stags, Mini, Young and Senior, participated in the Middlesex Cross Country Championships at Horsenden Hill on Saturday 6 January 2024.

The weather was ideal for cross country - light winds, cool, and no rain, BUT... it had been raining rather a lot in the preceding days and weeks. The course was a mud bath, although that only seemed to make it more enjoyable for some.

First off were the U11's, with great runs by Mia, Alex, and Joseph. Next was Rayan in the U13 Boys, and then Capree, Isla, and Thea in the U13 Girls. All ran well with the girls narrowly missing out on team medals.

Josh and Oliver had good runs in the U15 Boys race, and then it was Jorjia's turn. She won the U15 Girls race convincingly, and is once again Middlesex Champion following her victory in the U13 Girls race last year.

Flo and Charlotte ran brilliantly in the combined U17/U20W race, with Charlotte receiving an individual bronze medal.

In the U17/U20M race there were enough young Stags to complete teams. Monty, Harrison, and Louie worked hard to finish as 8th team, while the older trio of Noah, Joe and Callum achieved 6th place.

It was then the turn of the Senior Women to brave the muddy hills, now nicely churned up by all the previous races. Jana, Kathryn, Mandy, Geraldine, and Mary came home as 8th team. As the sole Stag in the Senior Men's race, Chris then rounded off a brilliant day of proper cross country.
