The Chingford League is back!

Wednesday 4th October sees the welcome return of the Chingford League and after last season’s disappointment of relegation to Division Two we find ourselves (men and women) battling for promotion. We’ve achieved it before and as one of the best supported clubs we can do it again, but the competition will be fierce so high turnouts are needed from the start.

A magnificent 69 Stags competed last season and turnout matters in this League so let’s try to beat that number this year. Everyone is welcome and everyone is needed. Spread the word.

This is a competitive, inclusive, and very friendly League which is why it is so popular among Club members. There are seven races and there is a course to suit everyone in the Club:

• Flat Dagenham Central Park which is the perfect warm up for the beginning of the Winter season and an ideal introduction for those new to cross country.

• 5K on tarmac at Hog Hill (an iconic venue where we have been racing since at least 2009) and also at the Lee Valley VeloPark (in the shadow of the Olympic Stadium) both of which will suit Parkrun enthusiasts.

• Our own Trent Park which we know and love so well and which will be the most competitive fixture of the season combining as it does our Club Championship and the Fraternity and Sorority Cups.

• Victoria Park a 5-mile PB magnet.

• Beautiful Epping Forest with its spectacular views and the promise of a real challenge.

• The excitement and chaos of Relays at Wanstead Flats which are the perfect way to end the season.

Chingford League Fixtures 2023/24

• Wednesday 4th October 7.30PM - Lee Valley VeloPark 5K

• Saturday 21st October 11AM- Dagenham Central Park 8K cross country

• Tuesday 7th November 7PM- Hog Hill (Redbridge Cycle Circuit) 5K

• Saturday 25th November 2.30PM– Trent Park 8K cross country

• Saturday 20th January 11AM – Epping Forest 8K cross country

• Saturday 3rd February 11AM– Victoria Park 8K road

• Saturday 9th March 11AM– Wanstead Flats 3K cross country relays

Except for Hog Hill and the Lee Valley VeloPark men and women race together.

Competitors who compete in all seven fixtures earn the sought after ‘ever presents’ mug and last year five Stags did so. It’s worth the effort!
